Try to avoid overly general search terms such as 'cars'. Narrow your search down by adding all relevant words, eg 'used cars hatchback'. Remember that very common words like 'the', 'and', 'a', 'is, and 'what' will not be included in your search, so if you type in, say, 'What is a widget?' the search engine will only search for 'widget'. If you definitely want to include some common words, you need to use a phrase search (see below). You can search for whole phrases by using quotation marks, eg "the tide is high" - this is particularly useful if some of the words in your search term are very common words and would otherwise be excluded. Using quotation marks means the search engine will only look for an exact phrase; therefore a geographic site containing the terms 'tide' and 'high' would not be returned in a phrase search. You don't need to type in capitals - the search engine is not case-sensitive.
